Job Description: Mining Director
This role demands a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership skills to drive successful mining operations in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Location 📌 : One position in Senegal & one in Guinea.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Management:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for mining operations in West Africa.
- Oversee exploration, development, and production activities.
Operational Oversight:
- Manage day-to-day operations of mining sites.
- Ensure operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with company goals.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards.
- Implement and oversee safety programs to minimize risks and promote a safe working environment.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage budgets, and oversee financial performance of mining operations.
- Analyze cost reports and implement cost-control measures
Stakeholder Management:
- Liaise with government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support operations and address concerns.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the management team and staff.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and development of personnel.
Project Management:
- Oversee project planning and execution, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Manage resources, timelines, and deliverables for mining projects.
Environmental Stewardship:
- Ensure environmental management plans are in place and adhered to.
- Address environmental impacts and implement sustainable practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- Extensive experience in mining operations, particularly in West Africa.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing large teams and complex projects.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards in the mining industry.
- Excellent financial management and strategic planning skills.
Experience :
- Typically requires 10-15 years of experience in mining, with significant experience in a senior management role.
- Experience in West Africa or similar regions is highly desirable.
