POSITION: DIESEL ENGINE SENIOR TECHNICIAN
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Engine Maintenance and Repair:
o Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (4000h, 6000h, 8000h, …) on Wartsila diesel engines, including inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, cylinder head removal for liner inspection, injectors reconditioning, centrifugal, automatic and fuel filters reconditioning, camshaft and valve tappets inspection, control mechanism inspection, turbocharger inspection, crankshaft alignment, …
o Diagnose and troubleshoot engine problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
o Repair and replace defective engine components, including fuel systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems.
o Conduct overhauls of Wartsila diesel engines, including disassembly, inspection, reconditioning, and reassembly of engine parts.
· Diagnostics and Testing:
o Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment to identify engine performance issues and fault codes.
o Perform engine performance tests to verify repairs and adjustments.
o Monitor engine performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
· Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours.
o Prepare detailed reports on engine performance, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.
o Document all diagnostic findings and repairs in the maintenance management system.
· Compliance and Safety:
o Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
o Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards for engine maintenance and repair.
o Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and promote a culture of safety within the team.
· Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with other technicians, and maintenance personnel to coordinate maintenance and repair activities.
o Communicate effectively with supervisors and management regarding engine status, repair needs, and maintenance schedules.
· Continuous Improvement:
o Stay up-to-date with the latest Wartsila engine technologies, maintenance practices, and industry trends.
o Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills.
o Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing engine performance and reliability.
REQUIREMENTS
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel engine maintenance and repair is preferred.
· Minimum of 6 years of experience working with Wartsila diesel engines or similar diesel engines in industrial, marine, or power generation applications.
· Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, and exhaust systems.
· Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting and repair.
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engine specifications.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Relevant certifications in diesel engine maintenance and repair are advantageous.
· Ability to lift and handle heavy engine components, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
· Ability to motivate multi-national teams.
· Physical ability to work on offshore installations in the climatic conditions of the site.
· Ability to work in plant locations (offshore) or require special transportation requirements (e.g. helicopter, marine vessels, rotational work, etc.).
· English as working language & Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
