Job Description: Project Mining Director
The Project Mining Director role is critical for ensuring that mining projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and strategic planning skills.
Location 📌 : One position in Senegal & one in Guinea. Â
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Oversight:
- Lead and manage mining projects from initiation through to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
Strategic Planning:
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Implement strategies to achieve project goals and align with company objectives.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations of mining projects, ensuring efficiency and adherence to project plans.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth project execution.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimation, financial forecasting, and cost control.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures as needed.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure projects comply with local regulations, environmental standards, and international best practices.
- Implement and oversee safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Manage relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and business partners.
- Address stakeholder concerns and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor project teams, including engineers, geologists, and support staff.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Risk Management:
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Address and resolve project issues and challenges promptly.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present regular project reports to senior management.
- Ensure accurate documentation of project activities, progress, and outcomes.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Project Management, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
- Extensive experience in project management within the mining industry, particularly in West Africa or similar regions.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale mining projects, including experience with budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
- Typically requires 10-15 years of experience in mining, with significant experience in a project management role.
- Experience working in West Africa or similar environments is highly desirable.
